Warband

How to play

• Eight warlords take the field: you and seven rivals. Each of you starts with 100 health. The last banner standing wins.
• Every round you plan. Buy units from the shop, drag them from your rack onto the left half of the board, and press Ready. The enemy sets up on the right, hidden until you are ready: nobody sees anyone's placement before the fight. Monster waves never bring more monsters than you can field.
• Fights play out on their own. Units walk, strike and cast their ability when their gold mana bar fills. Lose and you lose health: more if the winner still has a lot standing.
• Level up by combining: three copies of a unit merge into a 2 star unit, and three 2 stars into a 3 star. Each star means more health, more attack and a stronger ability. The shop shows how many copies you own.
• Every unit has a race and a class. Field 2, 4 or 6 different units of one to wake its bonus (a 2 star unit counts as 2, a 3 star as 3): Elves dodge, Undead strip armor, Golems shrug off stuns, Assassins leap to the back line, Mystics heal the whole army.
• You start with no units: buy your first ones from the shop, which always rolls at random. Your level sets how many can fight: 1 unit at level 1, one more for every level, up to 10.
• Every unit has a rarity: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic or Legendary. The rarer it is, the less often it shows up and the more it costs. Buy XP to level up: each level lets one more unit fight and makes rare troops show up a little more often. Keep gold to earn interest: 1 for every 10, up to 5 a round. Win or lose streaks pay extra.
• Some rounds are creep rounds: everyone fights a wave of monsters for gold. New troops only ever come from the shop.
• The war moves around: a round may take place in the meadow, the ruins, the snow peaks, the desert, hellfire, the swamp or the deep wood.
• Keys: D reroll, F buy XP, E sell the unit under the mouse, Space ready, C races and classes, Esc pause.
