Black Hills 1876 version 0.1
Black Hills 1876 opens with real-time squad battles on Rosebud Creek. Play the U.S. Army or the Lakota and Cheyenne against a computer commander on Easy, Normal or Hard, in Skirmish or a nine-season Campaign.
Additions
- Added two sides with different armies: the Army fields fewer, stronger and costlier troops, while the Lakota and Cheyenne raise cheap bands quickly and win by numbers.
- Added Army squads:
- Infantry Company
- Cavalry Troop
- Mounted Cavalry
- Sharpshooters (every shot kills, 7 s reload)
- Officer & Bugler
- Added Lakota & Cheyenne squads:
- Rifle Warriors
- Bow Warriors
- Horse Warriors
- Wolf Scouts
- War Leader
- Dog Soldiers (Northern Cheyenne spearmen)
- Added flags for manpower, ammunition and horses. A flag only pays while its ground connects back to your camp.
- Added resolve: 500 per side, lost for every man killed and for every ford the enemy holds beyond yours. Zero ends the battle.
- Added cover, each piece with its own value (sandbags 70%, logs 50%, grass tufts 10 to 15%).
- Added tall grass and pine woods to hide in. A hidden squad that opens fire unseen gets one ambush volley at double damage.
- Added plateaus with ramps. Men on top see 1.5x as far and aim 1.5x better shooting down.
- Added flanking: fire from two directions does 25% more damage, from opposite sides 50%.
- Added one ability per squad (Volley Fire, Charge, Hide, War Cry and more) and a side call-in: Mountain Howitzer or Arrow Rain.
- Added veterancy ranks, fog of war, and retreat to camp to heal and refill.
- Added Skirmish with a full settings sheet: battlefield, map size up to Giant, ground (spring grass, yellow grass, snow, badlands), resources, resolve, victory type and game speed.
- Added a Campaign from March 1876 to May 1877, nine seasons, each with its historical battle.
- Added named save games you can load from the menu, the pause screen or the war map.
- Added touch controls: press on your men and drag to give an order.
