The Last Defense

One road. Ten towers. Bring their fortress down before their bosses grow too strong.

Two fortresses face each other along one long road, each guarded by ten towers. Both send soldiers down the road every thirty seconds. Pick one of six heroes and one of three maps, fight beside your army, upgrade every tower on its own and push the enemy back one tower at a time.

Tall walls line the road and stairways lead off it into seven lands, from level 1 creatures to level 75, hidden in fog until you go and look. The enemy never stops growing: it quietly buys tougher soldiers, more soldiers and raids, and a boss walks with its army every five minutes, each stronger than the last. Shop for 96 items, buy random skills at the shrine, and end the war before nothing can stop them.

The Last Defense version 0.1

The first version of The Last Defense: one road, ten towers a side, and an enemy that keeps getting stronger.

Additions

  • Added six heroes, each with two paths:
    • Bjorn, a melee bruiser
    • Ember, a fire mage
    • Wren, an archer
    • Shade, an assassin
    • Talon, a jaguar chieftain
    • Rime, a frost sage
  • Added three maps: The Walled Divide, The Serpent Rift and The Crescent Bastion.
  • Added fog of war: land you have never seen is black, land you have seen but cannot see now is grey, and enemies only show while something of yours can see them.
  • Added tall walls along the road that block walking and sight, with stairways into the lands. Trees, rocks, houses and towers block sight too and have solid bases, and your hero shows as an outline behind them.
  • Added the road: two fortresses, ten towers a side in five pairs, and soldiers from both sides every 30 seconds. Towers fall in order, and a fortress only once all ten of its towers are down.
  • Added tower and fortress upgrades: armor, health, damage, attack speed and regeneration to level 20, and multi-target to level 5, for every tower on its own. A fallen tower can be rebuilt with gold, back at level 1.
  • Added the barracks: stronger soldiers, extra soldiers in every wave and raids. Right-click a soldier or the raid button to keep buying it whenever you have the gold.
  • Added the enemy fortress panel, which shows everything the enemy has bought.
  • Added a boss every 5 minutes, each stronger than the last.
  • Added seven lands off the road with creatures from level 1 to level 75, weakest near the stairs and strongest deep inside, each with a champion and camps that come back.
  • Added a shop with 96 items in six tabs, nine item slots and upgrades to +10.
  • Added the skill shrine: pick one of three random skills, up to 15 skills.
  • Added hero levels up to 100 with a pick at every level.
  • Added Easy, Normal and Hard, and a Quick battle of about 25 minutes.
  • Added an autosave every 2 minutes and five save slots of your own.
  • Added valor for every battle won, spent on perks and hero paths.
  • Added zoom in and out with the mouse wheel.
