Read. The scribe keeps every tome at the lectern by the fire. Stop there and press S or Down; the tabs at the top of the book switch tomes. Write a query on the slate, run it with Ctrl and Enter. A right answer rains coins.
Run. A and D, or the arrows. Hold Shift, or tap twice, to sprint until you tire. Gems buy better boots.
Pay. Stand by something and tap S or Down to drop one coin into its slots, or hold to keep paying. Paid coins stay put.
Hire. Drop a coin near a vagrant at a camp. Buy a tool at a rack and they take the job.
Money. Coins only come from queries. You start with none. Each question pays once per reign, and every fifth one you answer brings a gem. A shown answer pays nothing.
Practise. Once a question is answered, practise it three times before the next one opens: each time a new query on the same idea, worth one coin. Stuck? Show the answer, but that one pays nothing and does not count.
Dawn quiz. After every night, three quick questions on what you have learned. All three right brings a gem.
Give orders. Click a worker, or drag across several, to change their job or let them go.
Bows shoot, hammers build, swords guard. Archers keep watch by day and man the walls at night.
Nights. The Greed walks out of the portal. They break walls and grab coins. Get hit with an empty purse and they take the crown.
The Watch. At night, ring the bell by the fire. The Greed become a table; select up to five ids and your archers mark them.
Leave. The boatwright waits until this island's tomes are done (the harder questions can wait). On the last island, march knights on both portals.
The questions follow the SQLZoo tutorials, in order. Point at anything to see what it is. On a phone: arrows to run, the coin to pay, the boot to sprint, tap a worker to give orders.
