Major updatePosted
Longer waves, the Tavern, a bigger keep and save slots
Hold the Line version 0.4
Version 0.4 slows the game down and makes gold matter. Waves take longer to arrive and bring more troops, kills pay less, and there are two new things to spend on: Tavern upgrades and a keep that grows. The game also gets a proper title menu with three save slots, and a run in progress now survives closing the page.
Additions
- Added Tavern upgrades: 10 levels that move the item odds away from common and uncommon toward rare, epic and legendary.
- Added keep upgrades:
- Stone Hall (250 gold): +30% health, 3 archers, arrows +15%
- Twin Watch (500 gold): two watchtowers that shoot too, +60% health, 5 archers, arrows +30%
- Banner Keep (850 gold): double health, 6 archers, arrows +50%, takes 15% less damage and calls lightning on up to 3 nearby enemies every 5 seconds
- Added effects for kills, crits, level ups and keep upgrades.
- Every legendary you wear now adds a glowing ring and embers under your hero.
- Legendary armor now flares a shield every few seconds:
- Aegis: an immunity glow, plus a healing glow on the keep
- Dragonlord's Girdle: a fire shield
- Heart of Winter: a water shield, a frost field and drifting snow
- Thorns, cleave, echo, execute, the Sun Idol and the Architect's Seal each have their own hit effect.
- Added a title menu: Continue, Start New Game, Load Game, Perks, How to play, Settings, Credits and Exit.
- Added three save slots. Each slot is its own profile, with its own valor, perks and hero paths.
- Runs in progress are now saved. Continue picks up at the camp before your next wave.
- Added Music and Effects volume sliders. The pause menu, the music-note button and M open them too.
- Added a short Mistfall Studios opening the first time you play. Click, tap or press a key to skip.
Tweaks/Improvements
- Enemies now arrive over a longer stretch. Wave 10 takes 42 seconds to arrive, wave 25 takes 78.
- Every wave has 30% more troops.
- Kills now pay 60% of the old gold and 80% of the old experience. Summoned skeletons pay 1 gold. The wave-clear bonus is unchanged.
- The shop in camp is now called the Tavern.
- "Hit harder" now reads "deal more damage" on War Cry and the talent cards.
- The old sound on/off switches are gone. Your old settings carry over to the sliders.
- Best waves are kept across all save slots.
Bug fixes
- Fixed the "playing now" badge never showing on the game page.
